IDUG DB2 EMEA Tech Conference 2016
Last week the annual technical conference of the IDUG was held in Brussels. IDUG is the International DB2 Users Group whose mission is to support and strengthen the information services community by providing the highest quality education and services designed to promote the effective utilization of DB2. During this conference more than 100 one-hour technical sessions are held.
This year Paul Peters of Phact BV presented one of the sessions. The subject of this session was “Gain Performance dynamically without disturbing developers. In this session he explained which methods dba’s have when a software product is deployed in the field and the performance of the DB2 database is not that good as expected. An extra obstacle is not possible to change the source code so the performance gain should be done at the database. There are a lot of possibilities, but a dba should have several solutions ready for use. The most important ones were discussed in this session.
